David Sellick is a skilled director, with strong leadership and international experience, demonstrating excellence in business development/strategy, workforce motivation, change management and technical sales. His broad technical, planning and organisational skills, combined with an ability to work efficiently, often in difficult commercial situations, have enabled him to pursue a successful career as an independent senior manager for the past seven years.


He is a forward thinking senior manager, highly committed and focused, and works with enthusiasm, application and integrity on every assignment. His international experience includes project work in Germany (he has a good command of the German language), Sweden, Italy, Spain, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.


In numerous projects he has proved highly adaptable and sensitive to different corporate cultures, combining functional expertise and hands-on management with strategic oversight and project development. Strong interpersonal skills, a sense of humour, and a willingness to listen, research and negotiate with in-house teams and customers, allow him to fit smoothly into the most challenging of business environments. Supported by excellent planning, marketing and sales knowledge, a high level of computer and web literacy, he has the rare ability to quickly get to the heart of an issue and the skills deal with it.


Some of these skills were honed during the early part of his career in the Royal Navy where in addition to an exemplary RN service record he also received a commendation from the US Navy.


His early commercial career in the fluid power and automation industry, where he operated initially as a technical sales engineer, demonstrated an aptitude for sales and business development and meant that he quickly rose through the ranks holding a number of senior management positions e.g. distributor manager, product manager & technical manager.


In 1993 he became Managing Director of a loss making specialist fluid power & process components business serving the automotive, industrial, process and nuclear industries (T/O £2.2million). Within 2-years he achieved a complete turnaround, increasing turnover by 66 per cent, and profit margins by 14 per cent. The change management included comprehensive credit reviews, identification of loss-making areas, removal of costs, reduction of stock levels and the introduction of more efficient customer-focused working practices.


It was this experience that persuaded David to develop a more project-focused career, building his multi-faceted business experience, by working across a series of highly demanding and varied assignments. Some of these experiences, including the development and sale of an engineering patent (where he was able to apply his detailed knowledge of patents law and procedures), and the establishment for one client of a small business from conception to a successful trading position, have highlighted an entrepreneurial and creative flare that is too often missing in corporate management hierarchies.
